Live Jira charts on your Confluence pages
Chartsmith turns a Jira project, saved filter or JQL search into a pie, donut, bar, stacked bar or KPI chart on any Confluence page. It is current every time the page opens, and every viewer sees only the work items they can see in Jira.

Five chart types, one macro
Every chart counts matching Jira work items, grouped by any field you choose, including custom fields.
Pie
Share of a whole across one field, such as work items by status.
Donut
The same share, with the total count in the center.
Bar
Compare counts across groups, largest first.
Stacked bar
Break each group down by a second field, such as status by assignee.
KPI
One big number: how many work items match right now.
A live number instead of a stale screenshot
Status pages, sprint reports and stakeholder dashboards that stay accurate without anyone updating them.
No IDs to remember
Chart a project, saved filter, custom JQL, project type or project category. Pickers search as you type, and JQL autocompletes fields, operators and values.
Clear JQL feedback
A green Valid JQL check, or Jira's own error message under the box, so you know exactly what to fix before you save.
Any field, including custom
Chart by and stack by any Jira field through a searchable picker. Work items with no value are counted in a None group.
Every viewer, their own permissions
Each person sees the chart built from the work items they can open in Jira. Nobody sees a colleague's restricted work.
Looks right, not just correct
A colorblind-checked palette, a color picker per group, top-N with an Other rollup, legend and data-label toggles, and hover tooltips.
Built for dashboards
Small, medium or large height and compact spacing let you tile several charts side by side in Confluence page columns.
Live preview
A full-screen editor shows the real chart as you build it, so what you save is what the page shows.
Your data stays put
No copy of your Jira data, no outside servers, no analytics and no AI. Runs on Atlassian.

Frequently asked questions
What is Chartsmith?
Chartsmith is an Atlassian Confluence Cloud app by Wattlebrooks Apps that adds a macro for live charts of Jira data. Point it at a Jira project, saved filter, JQL search, project type or project category, pick pie, donut, bar, stacked bar or KPI, and the Confluence page shows a chart that is current every time someone opens it.
Is Chartsmith a Confluence app or a Jira app?
It is a Confluence app. You install it into Confluence Cloud and insert it on Confluence pages. It reads Jira data from the same Atlassian site, so a site admin connects it to Jira once after installing.
Does every viewer see the same chart?
Not necessarily, and that is deliberate. Each chart is built from the Jira work items the person viewing the page is allowed to see. Two people can see different totals on the same chart if their Jira permissions differ, and nobody ever sees a work item they could not open in Jira.
Does Chartsmith store my Jira data?
No. Chartsmith keeps no copy of your Jira data and has no database of its own. A chart's settings (source, chart type, grouping and colors) are saved with the Confluence page like any other page content. Nothing leaves your Atlassian site, and the app is eligible for Runs on Atlassian.
Why am I asked to Connect to Jira?
Chartsmith reads Jira as you, so every chart respects your own Jira permissions. Atlassian asks each person to approve that once: click Connect to Jira, then Allow access. You are not asked again on that site.
The chart still says Connect to Jira after I allowed access. What now?
A site admin needs to connect the app to Jira once: Atlassian Administration, choose the site, Connected apps, Chartsmith, View app details, Connections, then Connect on the Jira Apps row. Also check that you have Jira product access on the same site.
Which chart types does Chartsmith support?
Pie, donut (with the total in the center), bar, stacked bar and a single KPI number. Charts count matching work items per group, by any field including custom fields. Sums of story points or time are not supported yet.
Do I need to know JQL or project IDs?
No. Project, saved filter and project category pickers search as you type. If you do write JQL, the box autocompletes fields, operators and values and shows Jira's own message when a query has a problem.
How much does Chartsmith cost?
Chartsmith is free for up to 10 users. Above that it is priced per user per month on the Atlassian Marketplace, from US$1.99 for 11 to 100 users down to US$0.20 at the largest tiers, billed by Atlassian with a 30-day free trial. It is coming soon to the Atlassian Marketplace.
How many work items can one chart include?
Up to 5,000 work items per chart. If a search matches more, the chart is built from the first 5,000 and shows a note saying so, with a Refresh button.
